The Fort Valley Fire Department was created as an all-volunteer force and is now staffed by 13 full-time professionals and 13 volunteers. Operating from two stations, the department is responsible for fire suppression, fire prevention, fire prevention education and disaster preparedness.

Each of these areas encompasses various programs and services designed to enhance the department's ability to serve its customers -- the residents of Fort Valley. The Fire Department's philosophy is that prevention is the key to reducing fire losses in the city.

The men and women of the department work continuously to improve the quality of the services they provide by aggressively training in all areas. Continuing education programs provide regular training that meets or exceeds requirements prescribed by state and federal regulations. The FVFD staff is always looking for new technology or training that may be used by front line personnel to reduce loss of life and property in our city.

In addition to handling emergencies, the FVFD also offers a number of services to the community including residential smoke detector battery changes, home and business fire inspections, fire safety training classes and CPR training. If you are interested in any of these services or would like additional information about the Fort Valley Fire Department, call 478-825-5190.
